Intake Administrator, College of Early Childhood Educators

The College of Early Childhood Educators regulates the early childhood education profession in the public interest by ensuring Ontario’s early childhood educators meet requirements set out in the Early Childhood Educators Act, 2007. The College issues Certificates of Registration, has established a code of ethics and standards of practice for the profession and responds to complaints through a complaints and discipline process. Currently the College has issued over 60,000 Certificates of Registration.

The College’s Professional Regulation department is seeking an Intake Administrator to receive in-coming concerns regarding members. You will use your professional judgement to triage complaints while maintaining confidentiality and moving issues along efficiently.

Responsibilities:

Receive calls, e-mails, intake letters and documents, employer reports and employer notifications.

Assess the nature of complainants’ concerns and attempt to resolve or redirect routine concerns to Child Care centres or employers when appropriate.

Flag exceptionally serious or sensitive complaints for the College’s Executive Leadership Team.

Interact with senior staff from Child Care centres, school boards, legal counsel and members of the public/profession.

Counsel senior staff from Child Care centres, school boards and OCAATs on statutory reporting requirements.

Respond to inquiries regarding issues such the complaint disposition process, existing complaints, the College’s jurisdiction, the public register, professional standards, workplace conflicts and the reinstatement and reapplication processes.

Respond to queries from other organizations such as police and Children’s Aid Society.

Prepare correspondence in response to incoming concerns and requests regarding issues such as publication bans, the interpretation of legislation and the College’s mandate.

Track pending intake cases by keeping abreast of media concerns forwarded to the Professional Regulation Department in advance of a formal complaint.

Maintain hard copy French and English language intake and correspondence files.

Manage telephone software related to intake calls in consultation with the College’s IT Department.

Provide statistical reports and analysis of trends and emerging issues regarding the work of the Professional Regulation Department.

Support the Registration Appeals process.
