High-pressure work environments often come with a range of difficult conversations – usually involving giving and receiving feedback.  Whether it’s confronting a colleague or giving feedback to a direct-report, these interactions can be challenging and the stakes can feel high.

This half day session offers an alternative to agonizing and dreading over an anticipated difficult conversation. Instead, participants can seize the opportunity to understand and practice a range of challenging interactions, receiving real-time feedback from a skilled practice coach.  It’s a rare chance to explore some crucial conversations – in a risk-free setting.

Session Overview:

Module 1

Defining Difficult Conversations

-the difference between feedback and criticism

-the three difficult conversations

-clarifying your objective

-shifting to a learning conversattion

Module 2

Elements of Giving Feedback

-a four step process for managing the conversation

-managing resistance

-the power of empathy

Module 3

Putting it into Practice

Working in small groups, using pre-determine case studies, participants will prepare for a difficult feedback conversation with a colleague. With the facilitator in the role of colleague, participants will practice this conversation, receiving real time feedback, coaching and the opportunity to re-do moments in the conversation.
