Before the pandemic, in-person or teleconference hearings were the norm.
Over the past three years, however, adjudicative tribunals across the country have now adapted to conducting remote hearings mostly using videoconferencing technology. SOAR has explored their advantages and shortcomings in our Navigating Online Justice series in 2021/22. More than just a temporary solution, remote hearings are here to stay.
With so many options, we are now faced with conducting hearings through a variety of means, including the ‘hybrid hearing’ involving simultaneous in-person and remote attendances.
Join our expert panelists on June 7, 2023 as they discuss hybrid hearings: how to adapt it for parties and adjudicators, the benefits and challenges associated with such hearings, as well as related ethical challenges and how to address them.
