SOAR Scholarship in Administrative Law 2020

THE SOAR SCHOLARSHIP

Applications are invited for the annual SOAR academic scholarship.

The Society of Ontario Adjudicators and Regulators is an independent, non-profit, non-partisan association of Chairs, members, management and staff of the province’s administrative boards, agencies and tribunals.  SOAR’s mission is to advance administrative justice through education, advocacy and innovation.

To promote interest in and recognize dedication to the principles of administrative law, SOAR will award one $3,000 scholarship to an upper level (L2 or L3) student enrolled in an Ontario law school who demonstrates a commitment to the administrative justice system.  Students must show, in a written essay, how their studies have led them (or will lead them) to embrace the practice of administrative law.

We hope you will once again assist us in disseminating this news to your students and adding the SOAR Scholarship to the pool of grants and bursaries offered by your school.  An announcement of the scholarship is also attached.  Please feel free to post or circulate accordingly.

Applications will be accepted no later than July 31 of each calendar year.  The award will be presented at SOAR’s annual general meeting (December of the same calendar year).

A copy of the Application Form is attached;

Please note that a credit or record of completion in Administrative Law will be accepted in lieu of a transcript due to disruption caused by COVID-19

Completed applications or related inquiries should be submitted electronically to: scholarship@soar.on.ca

SOAR is pleased to be able to support the practice of administrative law through this initiative.
