The Financial Planning Standards Council is a not-for-profit certification and professional-oversight body that develops, promotes and enforces professional standards in financial planning in Canada.
FPSC® is currently seeking a talented, committed and dynamic individual, to join our Standards and Enforcement Department in the role of Investigator.
Investigator (Toronto / Permanent Full-time)
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director, Standards and Enforcement, the Investigator is responsible for identifying, gathering, processing and analyzing evidence for potential breaches of the Standards of Professional Responsibility for CFP® Professionals and FPSC Level 1® Certificants in Financial Planning. The Investigator engages in the timely, consistent and fair investigation of a wide range of issues relating to the professional conduct of FPSC certificants.
Qualifications:
A professional degree or certification (LL.B.; CPA; or CFP® preferred)
Investigative & Forensic Accounting (DIFA) diploma or Certified Forensic Investigator (CFI) certification and successful completion of the Canadian Securities Course are considered assets
3 to 5 years’ experience conducting investigations in a regulatory or administrative context
Knowledge of current trends and developments in financial planning and experience in insurance, tax, investments, estate or other financial planning related matters
Experience developing and executing investigation plans, conducting interviews and preparing investigation reports.
Clear, concise and articulate communication skills (written and oral)
Strong work ethic (ability to manage a complex, multi-issue and diverse caseload) and a strong commitment to the application of administrative fairness
