Greetings from SOAR.
It is a difficult time of self-isolation and social distancing. Yet, the justice sector must find creative ways to carry on and ensure access to justice.
What is SOAR doing?
Professional Development
SOAR is working hard to adapt our programs, including roundtables, workshops and the SOAR/Osgoode PD effective decision writing course, to be delivered remotely. To ensure the health and safety of everyone concerned, we have postponed in-person training programs for the month of April. Updates will be posted on our website for programming scheduled to take place in May and June
Outreach
SOAR will continue to maintain our relationships in the administrative justice community through our newsletter, remote programming, and by posting updates and links on our website.
Many Ontario tribunals and agencies have already been using alternatives to in-person hearings and paper records. This pandemic may accelerate adoption of electronic dispute resolution.
We want you to stay in touch too and we encourage you to share with us examples of successful adaptations that demonstrate continuing access to administrative justice, be they on-line, telephone or videoconferencing hearings, or something entirely new. Email a short description, or a link to an article highlighting an innovated approach to etc. to information@soar.on.ca
SOAR will collect and disseminate the information to benefit of all our members.
Be well, and remember that we are all in this together.
