As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the Office’s effective outreach to Toronto communities and the support of its public education function. Reporting directly to the Ombudsman, you will support quality service goals and contribute to an environment which values fairness, equity and inclusive behaviours.

Major Responsibilities:

Develop, implement and coordinate a community outreach and public education plan that connects the office with the diverse residents, communities, businesses, and groups that it serves
Assess stakeholder needs  and make recommendations about outreach and public education priorities
Identify speaking and outreach opportunities for the Ombudsman
Build and maintain cooperative working relationships with stakeholders including Councillors and their staff, public servants, and broader community stakeholders and organizations
Coordinates and maintains electronic and hard copy filing systems related to responsibilities   
Manage social media accounts to increase ombudsman online presence and visibility
Manage production of mailing list
Handles special projects

Key Qualifications:

Post-secondary degree/diploma in a relevant area (i.e. Social Sciences, Education) and/or equivalent experience

Self-directed worker, highly motivated, and organized, able to ensure issues are managed within specific timeframes.
Demonstrated experience conducting public education and outreach work
Team player with strong interpersonal skills
Sound knowledge and awareness of fairness, equity, and practices of inclusion
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to write effectively for a variety of audiences
Demonstrated awareness of the role of social media in outreach to audiences
Ability to multi task and execute priorities in a fast paced environment
Sound judgment, tact, political acuity and discretion
Broad range of computer skills including presentation and web applications
