Secondment Opportunity (12 months with the possibility of an extension)
Position: Executive Advisor to the Mining and Lands Commissioner (Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry), AGA20 Location: 700 Bay Street, Toronto
An exciting secondment opportunity exists for a seasoned professional to take on a leadership position that will employ your knowledge and organizational skills as the Executive Advisor to the Mining and Lands Commissioner (MLC), an independent adjudicative tribunal within the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF).
The MLC conducts hearings involving the legislation of the Ministries of Natural Resources and Forestry and Northern Development and Mines. The OMLC has one full-time Mediator/Registrar and two support staff, an administrative assistant and secretary. There are also up to four per diem Deputy Mining and Lands Commissioners who hear cases on an as needed basis, either alone or on panels of two or three.
The position reports to the Commissioner and some of the duties performed by the successful candidate will be to:
Provide executive support to the MLC.
Provide strategic analysis, advice and expertise to the MLC on the day-to day management, planning, service coordination, communications, issues management and administration of activities related to meeting the mandate of the OMLC.
Support the Commissioner’s accountability to manage the OMLC operations and resources in order to enable change, drive efficiencies and enhance performance measurement, risk management and quality assurance practices.
Directly and indirectly lead OMLC staff.
Oversee financial budgets; deliver human resources management and administrative operations.
