The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is the statutory body responsible for regulating Ontario’s capital markets in accordance with the mandate established in the provincial Securities Act and the Commodity Futures Act. The
Commission’s mandate is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices and to foster fair and efficient capital markets and confidence in capital markets.

The Office of the Secretary to the Commission provides support to Members of the OSC in their responsibility as regulators, as Board Directors, and as adjudicators. The Branch provides counsel to the Members on adjudicative matters and administrative law, corporate law and corporate governance. As well, the Office of the Secretary is responsible for the fair, impartial, and efficient operation of the Commission’s adjudicative proceedings.
A Hearings Registrar role is responsible for providing administrative assistance to tribunal members in all Hearing matters and for maintaining the decorum of the court. The Hearings Registrar role is also responsible for maintaining corporate documents resulting from Hearings or generated by other personnel of the involved parties. The Hearings Registrar will maintain the archived materials in accordance to the OSC records policies.
The Assistant Hearings Registrar will assist with the activities described above.
